2019 Results!

In just three hours today, more than 6,500 volunteers cleared nearly 145,000 pounds (72.5 tons) of waste and debris from streets, canyons, parks and the coastline in communities across San Diego County for the 35th annual Coastal Cleanup Day, organized by the nonprofit I Love A Clean San Diego. The day’s environmental protection effort took place at 107 sites around the region and prevented the equivalent of 5,500 garbage trucks emptying their contents into the ocean.

Coastal Cleanup 2008 Results

At this years California Coastal Cleanup Day event in San Diego County, 7,729 volunteers came out to help clean up local coastal and inland communities. These dedicated volunteers removed 160,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from nearly 150 miles, including four cleanup site across the border and one underwater site.

California Coastal Cleanup Day is organized locally by San Diego Coastkeeper and I Love A Clean San Diego and statewide by the California Coastal Commission and it takes place throughout California in 48 counties. This year, 70,000 participants removed nearly 1.2 million pounds of debris from 2,619 miles of California coastal and inland areas.
