Coastal Cleanup 2008 Results

At this year’s California Coastal Cleanup Day event in San Diego County, 7,729 volunteers came out to help clean up local coastal and inland communities. These dedicated volunteers removed 160,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from nearly 150 miles, including four cleanup site across the border and one underwater site.

California Coastal Cleanup Day is organized locally by San Diego Coastkeeper and I Love A Clean San Diego and statewide by the California Coastal Commission and it takes place throughout California in 48 counties. This year, 70,000 participants removed nearly 1.2 million pounds of debris from 2,619 miles of California coastal and inland areas.

All volunteers must sign a waiver to participate. Save time when you arrive by printing out your form and bringing it along to hand in at registration.
