Coastal Cleanup 2007 Results

At this year’s California Coastal Cleanup Day event in San Diego County, 6,212 volunteers came out to help clean up local coastlines, beaches, bays, and inland areas. These dedicated volunteers removed 94,358 pounds of trash and recyclables from an estimated 166 miles of land based sites and 400 pounds of trash from the San Diego Bay underwater dive site.

California Coastal Cleanup Day is organized by the California Coastal Commission and takes place throughout California. In 2006, approximately 48,000 participants across 45 counties removed over 800,000 pounds of debris.

In 2012, 7,239 volunteers removed over 127,000 pounds of debris in one morning at various beaches, bays, canyons, and open space areas. Join us once more to continue this tradition of volunteerism and stewardship for San Diego County.
